MAPS welcomes Sh. Kyle Smith and Sh. Hassan Wado as new Qur’an Teachers

Assalamu Alaykum Dear Community,

Muslim Association of Puget Sound (MAPS) is very pleased to announce the appointment of Sh. Kyle Smith and Sh. Hassan Wado as our new Qura’n teachers starting their tenure at the beginning of the school year in September 2016. The Qura’nic studies journey, which Sh. Nabil Sallam started, will be carried forward by two of his students, who got the Ijaazah from him. We are planning to continue the current set of Hifdh and Qura’nic studies classes, as well as, add other classes for adults and kids covering Arabic language, Tajweed, and courses focusing on Qura’nic sciences. With these two young teachers, we have a very unique opportunity to develop our institute of Qura’nic studies further with our growing community in the Pacific Northwest. We are blessed and honored that these two qualified teachers have accepted these positions. They both have already taught and led prayers at MAPS and are well respected in our area and the community.

Sh. Kyle Smith: Sh-Kyle-Smith

  • Bachelors in Physics, University of Washington 2012
  • Memorized the Qur’an with Ijaazah from Sh. Nabil Sallam in the recitation of Qaloon and warsh ‘an Nafi and in Al-Jazariyyah
  • Currently working on Ijazah in the recitations of Abu ‘Amr and Ya’qub
  • Memorized, studied and received Ijazah from Abu Khaliyl in Imam An-Nawawi’s 40 hadiths
  • Imam, khateeb, and teacher at Mercy Association, Seattle

Responsibilities: Focus on morning hifdh program and Arabic classes

 

Sh. Hassan Wado:Sh-Hassan-Wado

  • Bachelors of Arts – Linguistics & Near Eastern Studies – Degree expected 2017 – University of Washington
  • Associate of Arts – Seattle Central Community College
  • Memorized the entire Quran with Ijaazah in the recitation styles of Hafs and Shu’bah from Ash–‐Shaatibiyyah
  • Achieved Ijaazaat with Isnaads in classical Hadith and Aqeedah books
  • Achieved 1st place in the High School Level of an interstate Quran Competition
  • Languages: Fluent in English, Arabic, Oromo, & Somali

Responsibilities: Focus on evening kids and adults classes, including leading prayers
