Facility Rental or Use

MAPS is a 44,000 square foot facility in a semi-industrial area. We are blessed to have this facility for our numerous programs, events and services.  We also rent out the space at MAPS for private and public uses by the community, depending on availability and subject to the Facility Usage Guidelines below.  The fees for rental of space at MAPS depend on the room and services you are seeking. A price list is provided here.

Facility Usage Guidelines

To rent any space at MAPS, you must comply with the following usage guidelines, which are also part of the facility rental agreement.

  1. The prayer area, also called “Musallah”, is the part of the MAPS facility that is used for daily prayers (with a partition in place). It will have the sanctity of Masjid. Only MAPS programs (example: Sunday Quran Tafseer, Friday Halaqa, etc.) or MAPS approved programs are allowed in this area. The prayer area cannot be used for any rental Activities.
  2. All guests must adhere to MAPS’ prayer time. Our prayer time cannot be changed. If organizing a program, you must pause 5-10 minutes of your program during prayer time.
  3. The usage guideline for the MAPS facility (outside of the Prayer Area) is to conform with Islamic etiquettes and be consistent with MAPS’ principles of inclusiveness and tolerance and to not contradict MAPS’ bylaws in both letter and spirit.
  4. Any activity in the MAPS facility should not interfere with congregational prayer in the prayer area. The use of the sound system should not interfere with the congregational prayer in the prayer area to preserve the sanctity of the people offering prayer.
  5. We encourage modesty in dress1 for visitors coming to MAPS. We make scarves available at the entrance to the women’s section of the prayer area, but its use will be to the discretion of guests. We do not regulate people who come to visit MAPS to learn about Islam and always assume good intentions of our visitors.
  6. No pork or alcohol can be served in the MAPS facility.
  7. Nasheed and Islamic songs are allowed in the MAPS facility. Any activity beyond these which involve singing or music will require prior approval from the Imam (Sheikh Mohammed Joban).
  8. Our approach to inter-faith activities is to reciprocate the goodwill Muslims enjoy in North America by working with other inter-faith organizations and using our facilities for inter-faith activities. Such use will be aligned with Islamic principles and be consistent with MAPS’ values of inclusiveness and tolerance.
  9. The use of the MAPS facility for religious activity of other faiths needs to be approved by the Imam (Sheikh Mohammed Joban) and the MAPS Board of Directors.
  10.  Any fundraising must be approved by the MAPS Board of Directors or the process setup by the MAPS Board of Directors.
  11. Any exception that is not covered by these tenets will require approval by the MAPS Board of Directors.
  12. Decorations: All decorations of any kind are to be put up with masking tape only. The applicant is responsible to ensure that all decorations are taken down without any damage to MAPS’ property, furniture, and fixtures in any form.
  13. Cleaning & Storage: The applicant is responsible for removing all trash and moving it to designated receptacles. All applicants’ property should be removed from the premises at the end of the event. We do not store anything.
  14. Commercial: Businesses or professionals engaged in an activity for gain or profit are ineligible for rental.
  15. Liability: The applicant takes full responsibility for the liability of any statements and programs carried out during the event and/or by any group member during the facility usage. The applicant does not speak on behalf of MAPS. The applicant takes full responsibility for all physical and property damage, losses, injuries, and accidents.
  16. Lawful Activities: All activities must meet all federal, state, and local government laws. The applicant will bear total responsibility for any and all consequences including but not limited to immediate eviction from the MAPS premises for any infraction of such laws by any individual or group.
  17. Restricted: The use of the MAPS facility is restricted to the areas rented. If any of the guests or their children uses other areas of the facility, additional space rental fees will be due, and the applicant will be responsible for any additional liability.
  18.  Security: The event organizers are responsible for providing their own security during the events, especially to monitor the entrances and hallways and to prevent damage by children. You can use volunteers or hire security. MAPS can also provide security guards, if needed, at an additional cost. We recommend one guard per 50 attendees.
  19. Fees: All fees and deposits must be received by MAPS seventy-two (72) hours prior to the scheduled date of the event. If the payment is not received as required, MAPS is under no obligation to provide the use of the facilities.
  20. Deposits: All deposits cleared from the bank will be refunded after adjustment for damages and additional charges for extra time, space, and equipment usage.
  21. COVID-19 Guidelines: MAPS adheres to the WA state guidelines relating to the

    pandemic. Masks are still required indoors, as per WA DOH guidelines, even if you’re fully vaccinated. Please make sure all your guests use masks while on the premises. Your reservation is conditional upon your compliance with all WA state guidelines then in effect. MAPS reserves the right to cancel or modify your reservations should the state issue new guidelines that interfere with your planned usage of the facility.
