Faith Leaders to Participate in Breaking of Muslim Fast (Iftar) at MAPS on June 7th , 2017

(REDMOND, WA – 6/6/2017) –  On Wednesday, June 7th, 2017, some 500 attendees from all faith backgrounds will participate in the breaking of the Muslim fast in this month of Ramadan at the Muslim Association of Puget Sound (MAPS), the largest mosque in the Northwest, located in Redmond, WA.  A panel of interfaith leaders will address the audience. The theme for the night will be “Migration & Transformation.”
At a time when extremist voices are attempting to divide us and when terrorist murderers are again wreaking havoc in places from Portland to London, it is imperative that men and women of conscience stand up in solidarity.  MAPS will host its annual interfaith Iftar (breaking of the Muslim fast) and convene a platform of interfaith leaders to advocate for harmony and peace.
“Ramadan is a time of reflection and prayer”, said MAPS President Mahmood Khadeer.  “At a time when extremism is raising its ugly head again, it is our duty as faith leaders to openly and publicly disavow bigotry and advocate for harmony.”
