About Us
The Muslim Association of Puget Sound (MAPS) started in 2006 with the intent of fostering a thriving community based on Muslim values like spirituality, service, humility, modesty, knowledge, family, unity, harmony, justice, and creating a better society. Since then, we have grown to become the largest Islamic center in the State of Washington, with a diverse community of more than 5,000 families from over 50 countries.
Housing
Apartment Hunting
If you’re looking for an apartment and can’t search in person Zillow, Apartments.com, and Craigslist are some places to start. Apartments generally go fast, so be prepared to hear that an apartment is already off the market when inquiring. There are also Facebook groups that may be helpful in your search.
Utilities included with rent will vary, but be prepared to pay for most utilities including water, trash, and sewage in most apartment complexes, especially in the Greater Seattle area.
Check out some tips for apartment hunting and what to expect when you’ve found a place.

Halal
When you live in Washington, amazing food is never far away. From our biggest foodie city, Seattle, to small neighborhood gems, our restaurant scene gets better every year. But at the same time, finding a halal restaurant can sometimes get tricky. We have collated an ever-growing, ever-evolving list of halal restaurants for you.

To embark on this food adventure, wear your most comfortable kicks, pack about four layers of clothing for the unpredictable weather, and don’t let anyone tell you that carrying an umbrella in the rain will make you look like a rookie tourist 🙂
Please note that it might be a good idea to always look for the halal certificate where the cashier is seated. If not, then feel free to ask the staff whether the meat is halal or not.
Along with the aforementioned recommendations, we also have listed down a few apps and interest groups for you to dive deeper.
