Welcoming Ramadan 2024/1445

“O you who believe, fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that you may (learn) self-restraint.” Qur’an 2:183

The blessed month of Ramadan is upon us, and we pray that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala (The most glorified, The most high) guide us to make the best use of this precious month. We have planned a full Ramadan schedule including Iftar & Suhoor programs, Taraweeh, Qiyam-ul-Lail, I’tekaf and other activities to reconnect spiritually and socially. This Ramadan booklet provides details of everything we have on offer for you this year. MAPS Board, staff, and Ramadan Committee are looking forward to welcoming you this Ramadan, Insha’Allah.

Ramadan Programs at MAPS-Snohomish County

Alhamdulilah, starting this year, MAPS Snohomish County will be running all Ramadan programs at our new masjid. The address is at 5010 Grove Ave Marysville with parking facilities at the Marysville Middle School and street parking along 51st street

As-salaamu Alaikum –

Ramadan Kareem (Have a generous Ramadan) everyone!

We are so happy to be entering into the blessed month of Ramadan. It provides all of us ample opportunities to grow God consciousness at individual level and increase togetherness and bonding at the community level.

Our teams in all three locations; MAPS Redmond, MAPS Seattle, and MAPS Snohomish County have planned a full range of spiritual and social activities. In addition, MAPS Redmond is hosting an Interfaith Iftar on 3/17 at 5:00pm for you to invite your co-workers, neighbors, your kids’ school principals, teachers, and friends.

I highly encourage you to go through this booklet to learn about details of every activity and participate with your families. In this month, the foot traffic in all our facilities peak, hence your cooperation with volunteers would be highly appreciated. It will help make this Ramadan safe, peaceful, and happy for all our attendees.

During this Ramadan, as we joyously observe the holy month, let us be mindful of our brothers and sisters in Gaza enduring an unimaginable level of genocide. May Allah SWT bring an end to their suffering, grant them freedom from oppression, and reunite them with their homes. Alongside our daily community iftars, we urge everyone to contribute to the cause by donating to approved organizations collecting funds on various nights at MAPS.

If we can be of any other service to you in this month, please do let us know, we’ll do our best to accommodate you, Insha’Allah (God willing).

JazakAllahu Khairan (May Allah SWT reward you all)

President, MAPS Board of Directors

Assalaamu Alaikum –

Welcome Ramadan,

As the month of Ramadan arrives, I extend my warmest greetings and sincerest congratulations to you and your families.

I remind myself and all of you, my beloved brothers, and sisters, of the profound wisdom behind our fast, as Allah instructs us, so “…that you may have taqwa (God-consciousness).” This month offers us a unique opportunity to deepen our connection with Allah, to cultivate self-discipline, and to enhance our gratitude and awareness of the needs of those around us.

This month is also the month of the Quran. Let us enjoy its recitation, understand its meaning, reflect on its verses, and practice it in our lives.

This month is also a time when our prayers are accepted more and more. So, let’s turn our prayers especially towards those facing hardship and conflict in the world, especially our brothers and sisters in Gaza. May Allah bring them relief, peace, and an end to genocide, oppression, and apartheid.

This month let’s challenge ourselves to extend our hospitality and generosity in new ways. I encourage you to invite someone from our community to your home for iftar whom you have not invited before. Remember, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “Whoever feeds a fasting person will get a reward like theirs, without the fasting person losing any reward.” Especially remember to invite our convert brothers and sisters who were not born Muslim and may not have any Muslim family to break fast with.

May Allah accept our fasts, our prayers, and our acts of charity. May He ease the hardships of those in need and bless our efforts with success. May this Ramadan enlighten our souls and allow the love of Allah to reach our hearts and the hearts of our children.

Wishing you a Ramadan filled with barakah. May you be protected and enveloped in the mercy of the Almighty.

Ramadan Mubarak!

Jazakumullahu Khairan

Sincerely,
Adam Jamal

Organizations serving the community rely on our generous donations during Ramadan to raise funds for their operations throughout the year. This fundraising also provides a channel for the community to fulfill their Zakat/Sadaqa obligations and benefit from increased rewards during the blessed month.

MAPS Snohomish will have its inaugural fundraising event for one external organization(s). Our hope is that diversity within these two groups will allow all MAPS members to find the cause that is dearest to them and contribute to it during the fundraising. Here are the organizations:
