MAPS Opening as a Cooling Center Daily from 6/27 to 6/30

Given the record high heat wave forecast, we at the Muslim Association of Puget Sound (MAPS) are very concerned about the health of people in our region who do not have air conditioning or access to cool spaces. We strongly advise community members to take precautions to keep cool and stay indoors as much as possible during this period.

In addition, to do our part to serve the community at large, MAPS is opening its doors as a cooling center for anyone, of any background, to spend daylight hours in our air conditioned gymnasium. We will be open every day, starting Sunday, June 27, 2021 until Wednesday, June 30, 2021, from 10:00am to 9:00pm. During this time, we will offer water, juice, and light snacks, but please bring your own food and avoid sharing to help us comply with health protocols and stay safe.

All King County COVID guidelines with respect to social distancing, masks, etc. will also be followed.

We will evaluate again on Thursday to decide if there is a need to extend offering MAPS as a cooling center.

Please stay hydrated and cool!
