MAPS Facility Usage Guidelines

As Salamo Alaikum,

We have reviewed our facility usage and below is the list of MAPS facility usage guidelines that are approved by MAPS Board and MAPS BOT for the facility usage starting immediately. These will be attached to the facility rental form and we will instruct our staff to strictly follow the guidelines for everyone.

MAPS Facility Usage Guidelines:

  1. The prayer area, also called “Musallah”, is the part of the MAPS facility that is used for daily prayers (with partition in place).  It will have the sanctity of Masjid.  Only MAPS programs (example: Sunday Quran Tafseer, Friday Halaqa) or MAPS approved programs are allowed in this area.  Prayer area cannot be used for any rental activities.
  2. The usage guidelines for the MAPS facility (outside of Prayer Area) is to conform with Islamic etiquettes and be consistent with MAPS principles of inclusiveness and tolerance and to not contradict MAPS bylaws in both letter and spirit.
  3. Any activity in the MAPS facility should not interfere with congregational prayer in the prayer area.  Use of sound system should not interfere with the congregational prayer in the prayer area to preserve the sanctity of the people offering prayer.
  4. We encourage modesty in dress (*) for visitors coming to MAPS.  We make scarfs available at the entrance to the women section of the prayer area, but its use will be to their discretion.  We do not police people who come to visit MAPS to learn about Islam and assume good intentions of our visitors.
  5. No pork or alcohol can be served in the MAPS facility.
  6. Nasheed and Islamic songs are allowed in the MAPS facility.  Any activity beyond these which involve singing or music will require prior approval from the Imam (Sh Mohammed Joban).
  7. Our approach to inter-faith activities is to reciprocate the goodwill Muslims enjoy in N. America by working with other inter-faith organizations and the use of our facilities for such activities.  Such use will be aligned with Islamic principles and be consistent with MAPS values of inclusiveness and tolerance.
  8. Use of MAPS facility for religious activity of other faiths needs to be approved by the Imam (Sh Mohammed Joban) and the MAPS Board of Directors.
  9. Any fundraising must be approved by the MAPS Board of Directors or the process setup by the MAPS Board of Directors.
  10. Any exception that is not covered by these tenets will require approval by the MAPS Board of Directors.
