MAPS Al Sadaqa
“Those who in charity spend of their goods by night and by day, in secret and in public, have their reward with their Lord: on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve” (Quran 2:274)
Who We Are
Al Sadaqa is the Financial Services arm of MAPS, which organizes and coordinates programs to fulfill the financial needs of all in the Puget Sound area, knowing that sadaqa (charity) grows wealth and we are all better off when we lift each other up. Our services are provided regardless of religion, faith background, race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, or documentation status.
Since its merger with MAPS, Al Sadaqa has helped thousands of people needing financial help to cover rent, utility bills, tuition, and more.
“Al Sadaqa” is an Arabic word that refers to charity that is freely given out of sincere faith, seeking only to please Allah SWT (God Almighty).
Our Services
Below are a couple examples of clients that MAPS Al Sadaqa has served.
Homeless to Self-Sufficient
A client was homeless in the Seattle area. Shelters for single people require you to leave during the day and come back in the evening to sleep. With no transportation, job, or income, this client would often have no where to go, and being out in the cold and rain for hours at a time took a toll on this client’s health. When this client came to Al Sadaqa, we decided to help with a more permanent housing solution. Part of our case management focuses on empowering our clients to advocate for themselves. We asked the client to find their own housing and we paid the move-in expenses. After moving in, the client found steady employment and is now self-sufficient.

Victim to College Graduate
A client and her three children were living in transitional housing after fleeing abuse from her husband. The only income she was receiving was from TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families). It was difficult for her to maintain her household with such little income, and she wanted a better future for herself and her three children. With help from Al Sadaqa, she was able to move into permanent housing. She was also in school but could not afford the high cost of tuition. Al Sadaqa assisted her with college tuition, enabling her to graduate soon. She says she would not have been able to do this without the help from God through Al Sadaqa.
