Culture v. Islam: The Faults of Harsh Parenting

January 20, 2023 @ 7:15 pm 8:30 pm

Research shows that harsh parenting has an indirect effect, as well as a direct effect, on child aggression in the school environment. Studies on discipline show that strict, or authoritarian, child-raising produces kids with lower self-esteem who behave worse than other kids — and therefore get punished more!

This Friday, January 20, Shaykh Yaser Birjas will explain the Faults of Harsh Parenting. He will explain the gentle and Islamic approach to teaching a child good behavior. Sh. Birjas sessions are interactive, fun, educational, and playful. He uses overhead slide shows to engage audience members.

Sh. Birjas will hold a session at MAPS-Redmond, this Friday at 7:15, after Isha prayer. He will also be the Friday khateeb at 1:15 p.m.

His specialty in the subject of marriage and relations made him a highly sought marriage counsellor for the Muslim community, and with four children and much experience, his parenting classes are equally popular. Shaykh Yaser has superb all-round grasp on Islamic sciences and has taught Usul, Fiqh, Financial Literacy, or Relationship classes to many students.
