In fact, the mosques of Allah are built-up only by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day and those who establish Salāh and pay Zakāh and who fear none but Allah. So, it is hoped that they are to be among those on the right path.
Surah Tawbah (Chapter 9:18)
Assalamu Alaikum / Peace be upon you
By the grace and blessings of Almighty Allah, we have been given the opportunity to open a second MAPS branch in the City of Marysville, located in Snohomish County. A passionate group of brothers and sisters had approached us with a proposal to collaborate on opening a masjid and Islamic center to serve the northern suburbs. After careful consideration of our mutual vision and commitment to serving the community’s spiritual, educational and social needs, the MAPS board unanimously decided to establish a branch in the Marysville area, now known as MAPS-Snohomish County (MAPS-SC). We are excited to extend our services and support to communities in Lake Stevens, Marysville, Smokey Point, Arlington, Granite Falls, Snohomish and beyond. Our vision is to foster a strong and thriving Muslim community in the region.
One year ago, we opened our first branch in downtown Seattle, just before Ramadan. Since then, we have experienced tremendous growth. We now hold two Jummah prayers and have had the privilege of serving countless members of the Muslim community in the downtown area. New communities typically go through many initial challenges, growing pains and operational issues. By the grace of Almighty Allah and all your support, MAPS is able to help new centers around the Seattle metroplex to quickly ramp-up and become fully functional centers for all activities – from prayers and educational classes to social activities.
We’re currently in the process of signing a lease in the Marysville downtown area, with the intention of establishing a new MAPS-SC center, inshaAllah. In the meantime, we’ll be hosting a variety of events at the Lake Stevens Grange. This includes daily prayers, Jummah and halaqas as well as Taraweeh and iftars in Ramadan. We will announce a grand opening date as soon as we’re ready to make the move into our new facility.
Alhamdulillah, this new branch of MAPS is a huge accomplishment and we’re excited to invite you to our Annual Banquet this Saturday where we will celebrate this and other accomplishments as well as provide you with an update on our future plans. We can’t wait to see you there!
