Program Overview

MAPS PNW Seminary is a 3-year program for youth and adults 16+ with the objective of elevating the Islamic literacy of our community.  Students study with qualified instructors and, upon the completion of the program, will receive a certificate/diploma and able to meaningfully serve in the community.

Our Mission

MAPS PNW Seminary aims to elevate the Islamic literacy of our youth and adults in our community with a strong foundation in their deen through a more serious Islamic studies program taught by qualified instructors.

Curriculum

PNW Seminary is based on a semester system and operate September to June.  Two subjects are taught each semester.  Final examination will be administered at the end of semester to assess students’ learning. Upon completion of all courses, students will graduate and receive a certificate of completion.

Year 1
  • Fiqh of Worship 1 (Tahara/Salah) by Imam Adam​ Jamal
  • 40 Hadith Nawawi by Imam Akram Baioumy
  • Aqidah (Beliefs) by Imam Adam​ Jamal
  • Tafsir of the Last 10 Surahs by Br. Alaa Badr

Year 2

  • Fiqh of Worship 2 (Fasting, Zakah)​
  • Principles of Hadith​
  • Sciences of the Quran​
  • Sirah Makki​

Year 3

  • Fiqh of Mu’amalaat (Marriage, Divorce, Finance)​
  • Principles of Fiqh​
  • Contemporary Issues ​
  • Sirah Madani​

Annual Calendar

PNW Seminary follows academic calendar, with holidays the same as Islamic calendar and Lake Washington School District.

Fall 2024 semester will begin September 23, 2024 and end December 18, 2024.

Spring 2025 semester will begin January 6, 2025 and end May 21, 2025.

PNW Seminary classes will be held in both Redmond and Seattle locations.

Redmond: 7:00pm – 8:30pm

Fees
$150 per class per semester

Dates
Semester 1: 9/23/2024 – 12/18/2024
Semester 2: 1/6/2025 – 5/21/2025

Note: Students will not be turned away due to non-affordability.

Requirements and Seminars

MAPS PNW Seminary is open to both male and female students.

  • Students must be at least 16 years old.
  • Before graduating, students must also complete​:
    1. Arabic Requirement: 1-year MAPS Quranic Arabic or equivalent (to be completed before graduation)
    2. Workshops: Khateeb Workshop, Tajweed Workshop
    3. Memorization: memorizing at least a ½ Juz of Quran before graduation

We will also offer optional seminars by local and guest speakers.

Optional Seminar #1: Principles of Dawah by Br. Alaa Badr (dates TBD)

Policies and Online Learning

  • Attendance Policy: Students must attend 70% of classes to graduate.
  • Homework Policy: There is no mandatory homework. Some classes will have project-based learning (instructor decision)
  • Assessment: Final exams will be administered to measure students’ attendance and understanding.
  • Online Streaming: Live streaming of classes on Teams without recording.

FAQ

Can students take classes ala carte?​
Yes, they can take one class at a time instead of 2, but it will extend their graduation period.​

Are there any pre-requisite?​
Almost all courses are standalone minus one or two courses that will require 1 prior course.​

Will you add more classes?​
If there is sufficient demand then we can add more classes in each year​

Is there a certificate per class?​
Yes​.

Can students attend the class without registering?​
Classes will be open to the community to audit / benefit without registration but graduation, tests and certificates will only be for those who register​

Will there by any online platform for taking pre-recorded classes?​
At this time we will not be having an online platform for taking classes
