MAPS Scouts
Are you a youth who loves to explore the natural creations of Allah? Do you enjoy the friendship and suhba of fellow Muslims? Would you like to learn outdoor skills and develop your leadership abilities? Then scouting is for you inshaaAllah.
Who We Are
MAPS Scouts is comprised of three (3) separate scouting programs.
- Cub Scouts
This program is for boys grades KG to 5th.
- Boy Scouts
This program is for boys grades 6 up to age 17. Once a youth is 18, they can volunteer as an adult leader.
- Girl Scouts
This program is for girls grades KG to 12th.
Each of these programs is run separately.
MAPS Cub Scouts
Cub Scouts is a registered unit with the Chief Seattle District and chartered by MAPS. We are Pack 99.
Cub Scouts runs from September to June and meets bi-weekly in the evening at MAPS. We aim to do one outdoor activity per month. A parent must attend all meetings with their kid.
Program registration costs ~$150-200/year, depending on returning vs. new members, plus the cost of uniform. Some events will have additional fees to cover costs. No family will be turned away for fees.
MAPS Scout Troop
We have created a new Scouts Troop this year chartered by MAPS.
This is for youth from grade 6th up to age 17th. Parents are not required to attend all meetings, but we will definitely need parents to volunteer as well
MAPS Girl Scouts
MAPS Girl Scouts is an active program that has been running for the past 8 years and proudly serving the girls in our community. The program runs October to June.
MAPS Girl Scouts is comprised of six levels:
- Daisies (Kindergarten and 1st grade)
- Brownies (2nd and 3rd grades)
- Juniors (4th and 5th grades)
- Cadettes (6th-8th grades)
- Seniors (9th and 10th grades)
- Ambassadors (11th and 12th grades)
With a dedicated team of 20+ volunteers, Girl Scouts work hard to organize a variety of girl-led activities, community service projects, day trips, overnight camps and leadership and entrepreneurial opportunities.
The troop meets twice a month, with additional special events, activities and outings scheduled throughout the year.
Joining MAPS Girl Scouts offers a wonderful opportunity for girls to develop new skills, discover talents and form lasting friendships.
Volunteer
MAPS Scouts program is run by volunteering parents. The number of volunteers is the limiting factor on how many kids we can admit into the scout program. We understand that most of us work and volunteer, so we maintain the volunteering with limited hours, clear training and expectations inshaaAllah. Priority for joining the scouts program is given to kids of volunteers.
